Poll: President Bush, Republicans Approval Ratings Soar
President George W. Bush's approval ratings are up all across the board according to a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll taken between February 4th and 6th. While other polling information saw Americans opinion on issues soar after the president's state if the union speech, this poll was taken right after the historic elections in Iraq. Overall the poll shows positive steps for the president and the entire GOP while the democrats are struggling.
The highlights for President Bush:
--57% stated that they approved of how the he does his job.
--55% think the policies being proposed by George W. Bush would move the country in the right direction.
--50% approve of the way George W. Bush is handling Iraq.
--55% believe the policies being proposed by George W. Bush would move the country in the right direction.
--55% said the United States did not make a mistake sending troops to Iraq.
--53% said things are going very or moderately well in Iraq.
--64% said it is very or somewhat likely a democratic form of government will be established in Iraq.
The USA Today notes that Republicans received a 56% overall favorable rating, compared with 46% for Democrats — a 10-point advantage, up from 6 points in September.
Other notables:
Dick Cheney has a 51%-41% favorable/unfavorable rating.
Donald Rumsfeld has a 48%-40% favorable/unfavorable rating.
Condoleezza Rice has a 59%-27% favorable/unfavorable rating.
Howard Dean has only a 31% favorable rating compared to a 38% unfavorable rating.
There is no good way to spin this for the Democrats, as the GOP is dominating the political landscape.
